Having worked in the driver training industry for nearly 30 years, I have gained a wealth of experience in many areas; from running my own driving school, being a driving examiner and then finally working for the largest driving school in the world BSM.

Having spent over 20 years with BSM, working initially as an instructor trainer, I soon became the training school manager and then in 2001 became a board director responsible for Training, Research and Quality Control.

I was instrumental in bringing the concept of Continuing Professional Development [CPD] into the industry; one of my departments also had input into the theory questions and hazard perception; our training course was probably the very first integrated instructor training course where self-responsibility, self-evaluation and self-development played a very big part.

I believe with the expertise and experience we have all gained within the driver training industry; the set up of adindi-associates.co.uk and Drive-Ed Ltd., we have exclusive access to instructors who hold and share the same values of reducing road traffic crashes and loss of life.

There are very few organisations within the driver training industry that have committed to taking on the challenge of improving the standards of both the instructor and their teaching methods within the instructor training world. There are many organisations that have taken up the charge of reducing road crash statistics, but until the instructor training world improves its standards, the road crashes will not reduce.

My experience over the last 22 years as an ADI has been broad and varied. I started off teaching learner drivers and then moved into instructor training for a number of years. In 1995 I became the Research and Development Manager at BSM, designing and writing training materials for learners, trainee instructors and qualified drivers, including fleet drivers. This work involved delivering presentations, running classroom courses and creating the driving simulator programmes for BSM as well as other e-learning materials. I also spent two years working for a²om.

I have always been passionate about road safety and am committed to delivering top quality driver training and consultancy by driving education forwards and impacting positively on the horrendous crash statistics amongst newly qualified drivers. For this reason I am embarking on a Masters degree at Cranfield University in Driver Behaviour and Education.

We are very excited to be able to launch a National Instructor Education Programme and really believe that we are offering something innovative and challenging to prospective NDIs. We are looking forwards to attracting and developing the very best Trainers in the industry.
